The visionary birth and successful trajectory of a family business
The origins of our company date back to 1933, the year when Autocares Julià was founded thanks to the entrepreneurial drive of four young people who were able to spot a business opportunity in the hardships of football teams and their fans when travelling to away matches, as well as of schools and cultural organisations to cover their mobility needs.
Overcoming adversity: from war to reconstruction
After a brief forced cessation during the Civil War, the 40s and 50s saw our company become a leader in charter transport in Catalonia. Successful excursions, such as the unforgettable visit to the Montserrat Monastery, cemented our reputation.
The group’s global expansion during the tourism boom
In the 1970s, the tourism boom in Spain led to the creation of new companies, such as: Julià Tours in 1968, Julià Central de Viajes in 1973 and Julià Travel in 1978. That same year, we launched our activities in Argentina and Mexico, thus confirming our international expansion. These countries are still key to the Group’s tourism business.
City Tour: a new era of internationalisation
The brand of tour buses and trains, City Tour, marked a new era of internationalisation for the group: Mexico (since 2001 with the Turibus brand), San Francisco (2014), London (2015), Rome (2016) and Tangier (2018), in addition to our national operations in Barcelona, Madrid, Granada and San Sebastián.
Permanent commitment to building the future
These 90 years are full of experiences, opportunities, difficulties and new challenges. In the wake of recent years, inevitably defined by the pandemic and the devastating effects it had on our sector and our society, a new stage is now beginning that is marked by the goal of becoming one of the main inbound tourism operators internationally, as well as of continuing to be one of the main charter transport companies in Spain, always keeping in mind that people have been and continue to be the core, the heart of our company.
