Andorra and EUROPA CUP FINALS 2018
The 2018 Europa Cup Finals were held in Grandvalira from 12 to 18 March.
The European Cup, along with the World Cup and Olympic Games, are the most important alpine competitions. In fact, the World Cup is considered the Formula 1 of skiing.
Andorra’s love for snow has been apparent since 1965, when skiing was declared a “national interest”. The creation of the Grandvalira ski area in 2003 has propelled it to success, turning it into a benchmark in southern Europe as it constantly innovates with new mountain experiences.
The organisational successes of previous editions of the European Cup resulted in its being named in 2012 to organise the first FIS Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup, marking yet another success in the calendar for the principality and Grandvalira. The various editions of the World Cup provided a guarantee for the FIS to award the 2019 Men’s and Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup Finals to Grandvalira. So in 2019, over the course of one week, the competition will take place on the two World Cup slopes: Avet and Àliga.
In its search for excellence, Grandvalira has relied on its partnership with Autocars Nadal to transport all the athletes involved to the slopes for the duration of the competition. Autocars Nadal is a passenger transport company in Andorra and part of the Grupo Julià.
